In the process of doing anything passionately, there’s always a road block. There’s always something to overcome.
My family, Cassie & Brent Hammett, have been passionately going through a process of adoption in pursuit of there baby girl Liv. And throughout its entirety, outside looking in, it’s been hell. From the beginning where they first had to wait for two years to see Liv, to waiting on simple fingerprints, then to cassie having to drive down to NOLA to sign papers, up to now where they are literally driving to dallas to find the adoption papers that FedEx delivered to the wrong address.
I understand that the 4 hour drive from Shreveport to Dallas and the 4 hour drive back may not be that extreme to some people, but those people are probably not running a homeless shelter on day to day basis. Or touring with bands to help play/manage for them. Or visiting strippers at the local strip clubs to share the hope of Jesus.
Of all the time that I’ve known the Hammett’s, I’ve not one time seen where their doors were not open to everyone. Being around them I’ve learned to serve not just with my hands but with my knees in prayer. One of the greatest services you’ll ever commit yourself to is the selfless act of praying for others. Thank you for being such great role models to us all (you too lola). In a way, parents to us all. The cool hipster kind.
Liv, if one day you happen to see this I won’t you to know how much you are loved by your mom and dad. They were always in constant pursuit of you. And I can promise they always will be. You’ll be hard press to find better parents. I’m not worried about a thing because Gods timing is perfect. He’s never late and He’s always on time. Even though I think he tends to lean a bit towards the later side. :) (that’s a joke. Haha crazy uncle Jeremy)
The truth is Liv, I’ll be praying for you and your parents until you come home. And then some. Maybe one day I’ll introduce you to my nephew and y’all can be the coolest hipsters ever. Until then, we’re looking for you.
Like I said.. In the process of doing anything passionately, there’s always a road block. There’s always something to overcome.
I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” (John 16:33 MSG)
